Coping Strategy for A Long Day

Keith Urban is one of my favorite singers. I am not ashamed to admit that listening to his music is a fantastic way to unwind after a long day of studying, etc.

Cup a mug of hot tea, close your eyes, and just enjoy. After all, doesn't every good day deserve a little respite?

Music...food for the soul.

The Most Desperate Place on Earth.

To think we are richer than 85% of the world. Yet we complain when we are down to our last $20 and payday isn't for a few more days.  Before you read this and have pity, read and be motivated.  There are organizations out there like Compassion International and  World Vision who are making a phenomenal difference in the lives of children around the world.

Pray about it.  Then walk that prayer out.  Do something. Sponsor a child. Sponsor a family.  Or just donate.

Kansas boy wants the world to remember dad

Please take a moment and read the following news link....Kansas boy wants the world to remember dad. It is the story of one little ten year old boy's desire to have his father honored for dying in Afghanistan.  He was the pilot of the Chinook that was shot down this weekend.  It is heartbreaking, and a constant reminder that HEROES take on multiple roles within our armed services.

US Troops Killed Were On Rescue Mission

On the deadliest day for US Troops in Afghanistan, 22 US Navy Seals were amongst 25 people killed when a rocket propelled launcher took down their Chinook.  These troops, part of a quick reaction team, were on a rescue mission to relieve other troops pinned down in fighting.

More information can be found on CNN.

Please pray for their families and loved ones.

31 Americans, 7 Afghans killed in Chinook Crash

For the first time since the war was launched in 2001, over 31 Americans and 7 Afghans died in the single largest attack. Most were made up of members of Elite Seal Team 6, the Special Operations Unit and 160th Special Operations Unit.

Please pray for peace. No matter what religious preference you express, people died today and that is not something to celebrate. As family members are being notified, please pray for their peace as well. This hits all of us who have family members that serve dutifully and out of respect for them, please take a moment out of your day to pray for them.

Army Announces Nine Month Deployment Cycles

I know I am not the only Army wife who is cheering at the news release from the DOD about the newly shortened deployment cycles.  Nine months is nothing to sneeze about, but when you are used to a 13, 15, or even 18 month cycle, this news rocks!  Check it out.  Basically as our operations slow down, the length of time our soldiers will be deployed will also shorten.

Read all about it here.

I am doing the happy dance!

Design for the home.

I am obsessed with discovering new ideas from pinterest.  Matter of fact, I have decided to publish a few of my favorite things I am planning on doing over the next few months for my house.  If you recall, I live on an army post, and so the outside of my house is a boring and bleak brown.  My belief is that the best way to dress up a beige lifestyle is with a little color....

Here is a GREAT idea for framing a little romance:

I love the clever functionality of the curtain rod in the following picture.

For me, the beauty in expressing yourself, is finding creative ways to express individuality without becoming a copycat of somebody else.  These are all ideas I can springboard from and leverage my own design...
